HUNNIC TRIBES, Hephthalites. Drachm (Silver, 26 mm, 2.33 g, 3 h), after 531. Draped bust of Khosrau I to right, wearing mural crown with fronted crescent, korymbos set on crescent; behind head, AFZUT ('may he increase' in Pahlawi) before head, HWSRWD ('Khosrau' in Pahlawi); in outer margin, four countermarks. Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; in upper left field, six-pointed star; in upper right field, crescent; to left and right, blundered legend. Cf. Vondrovec, Type 286 (for a Khosrau I drachm with differing countermarks). Good very fine.
